soccer ball, mixed media, 21 x 21.5 x 11 cm, 2020
Meiji Period, XIX century
A superb pair of minimally carved Japanese votive wood fox dolls – the messengers of God based on the Cult of Inari in Japanese culture. These would most likely form part of a home, a family’s personal altar / shrine based on their size. Charming authentic old repairs to one of the tails and one of the noses, great patina from handling and very good condition for their age.
18 x 9 x 4.5 cm each
